Ken Koetsier Legacy Scholarship
Honoring a life of faith. Inspiring the next generation. Established in the memory of Ken Koetsier, a faithful servant of Jesus and devoted member of the SOCS Community.
The Ken Koetsier Christian Legacy Scholarship is awarded to 1-3 South Olive Christian School Students each year who exemplify Christian Character and service in their community. This annual scholarship awards $1,000 toward the recipient’s tuition for the following school year at SOCS. Additionally, each scholarship will be matched with an additional $1,000 that will be added to the Affordable For All Tuition Fund in order to bless other students. This award goes directly to tuition and cannot be used elsewhere.
Students must be nominated by their pastor or by a teacher/staff member at SOCS. Once nominated, the award will be scored in three different areas:
First will be by a vote of their peers and staff. Each vote will count for one point and this will account for ⅓ of the scoring.
Second is a 2-3 minute video presentation (Grades K-7) describing what it means to serve God’s Kingdom in the world today. An overall score out of 20 points will be given to each submission. This will account for ⅓ of the scoring.
Third will be a vote by the Board of Education based on the previous two scores. The Board of Education will rank submissions by overall score as well as at their own discretion. This will account for ⅓ of the scoring.
The highest overall score will be the award winner. The scholarship will be presented at the 8th grade graduation, honoring Ken’s memory and the submitted video will also be presented. The scholarship will then be added to the winning student’s account for the following school year.
