South Olive Christian School is a small and growing pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade level school, founded in 1951, in Holland, Michigan. 

South Olive Christian School’s mission is to equip students with wisdom and knowledge to become effective Christ-followers who bring peace and restoration to the earth. Position Description

Our third grade class has room for a team-teacher who will lead the mornings and focus on ELA, reading, and providing students with a strong, healthy, supportive start to their day. By teaming up with our veteran third grade teacher who is passionate about math and science and delights in teaching those areas in the afternoon, you’ll find yourself in a fun, collaborative, warmly welcoming family-like environment. Social studies and Bible, family groups, chapel, and other holistic learning and growth opportunities for students are part of the day. Teaching Qualifications

for classroom instructors at South Olive Christian School

    • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university 
    • Valid Michigan teacher certification (or out-of-state with willingness to pursue state certification in MI)
    • A desire to serve Christ and others in Christian education
    • Active attendance and good standing in a local Christian church fellowship
    • Exhibit spiritual maturity before their students and colleagues and to conform to biblical standards of behavior at all times

Teaching Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to) the Following:

  • Lesson planning to teach students who are varied in their academic abilities
  • Provide informative and engaging lessons that align with Michigan academic content standards
  • Teach from a Christian worldview that encourages our students to see how all subjects are interrelated as parts of God’s integrated universe
  • Facilitate learning with a variety of materials and technological tools
  • Provide clear and helpful academic feedback to students and parents
  • Communicate clearly and in a timely manner with parents and administration regarding special events
  • Maintain a neat, clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Fulfill scheduled duties that pertain to chapel, recess, and after-school traffic guard
  • Attend monthly faculty meetings to review policy, procedures, scheduling, and other school business 
  • Meet regularly as educators to share expertise and work collaboratively to improve teaching skills and the academic performance of students as a professional learning community
  • Hold students accountable to abiding by our posted PBIS standards 
  • Prepare lesson plans twice a week for our Homeschool Connections students 
  • Prepare and hold Parent/Teacher conferences as scheduled by the office in the fall and spring and as needed during the school semester

Administrative Assistant

Employment Status: .2 FTE (Job Share)

Position Description

Our front office welcomes you to South Olive Christian School! We seek an administrative assistant who will join our team in the front office at least one day per week, job-sharing with the current
administrative assistant. The administration team consists of: Administrator, Business Manager,
Development Director, and Administrative Assistants who are eager to welcome you.

Job Requirements

  • Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, etc.), Constant Contact and/or other communications and organizational technologies, FACTS, and/or other platforms for operating an educational institution. Excellent communication and time management skills, including the ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship and conflict resolution skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow from and with our staff.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Custodian

Employment Status: Flexible Schedule

Position Description

Our school is a vibrant place where growing, learning, and change is exciting us all, and our spaces are being fully utilized. We are seeking an individual or team of 2-3 people who will regularly be in the building to keep it at its best.

Job Requirements

  • Stock supplies in the kitchen, staff areas, bathrooms, etc.
  • Light maintenance projects (changing light bulbs, small fix-it jobs, etc.)
  • Oversee yearly schedule of waxing tile floors.
  • Prefer someone who has experience with maintenance and building repairs.
